Random pictures and details

Jackson and Will are working their way through testing their peanut and tree nut challenges.  Will tried to pass peanuts, but wasn't quite ready. He has however passed his tests for almonds, pecans, and pistachios.

Jackson passed his pistachio challenge.
Jackson and Will are still hoping to pass cashews, pine nuts, hazelnuts, and brazil nuts. Then, they are officially clear to eat tree nuts.  Will will retest peanuts next year.

Georgetown to Idaho Springs Half

Kristin, Jason and I ran the Georgetown to Idaho Springs Half Marathon in early August.  Kristin was hoping to PR by beating 2 hours and so I offered to help her achieve her goal. Jason was also shooting for a PR.

Jackson's Birthday

So, I am a little behind in blogging considering we celebrated Jackson's birthday the weekend before his actual birthday.

We now have the kids every other full weekend so the schedule shift has been a glorious change for Jeff and I since we can now do whatever we want on weekends with the kids rather than splitting the weekends with their other families.

The birthday festivities began on Friday afternoon once the kids got off the bus. That night, after grocery shopping, we surprised Jackson with tickets to the Glendale Raptors v. The Australian Army in rugby. Jackson has become quite a connoisseur of rugby as of late. What a deal for the whole family. I have to say I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but attending a Raptors game was the deal of the century. Not only did we get the tickets for a screaming deal, but we got to sit next to the players.  And, on top of that, we were right next to the field. The organizers of the Raptors really know what they are doing because when you walk in, the hand you a RUBGY 101 brochure explaining the rules.

Before we attended the game, we let Jackson open one of his three gifts from us. He opened a Steve Prefontaine poster that says, "To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift." Besides rugby, Jackson's second favorite is Steve Prefontaine. He has watched two of his movies and read parts of his biography.  We also gave Jackson a Pre t-shirt and two rugby jerseys: one from USA rugby and the other from New Zealand All Blacks.

Anyhow, here are pictures from the weekend.

Yes, this is how close we were to the players
After the rugby game on Friday night, we celebrated with our family and friends on Saturday night. Jackson requested a fancy dinner of steak, twice baked potatoes, grilled artichokes, fresh fruit, and homemade ice cream cake for dessert.

Kailey's birthday

Kailey, our wonderful niece and cousin, celebrated her 15th birthday in style at The Rock.  Kailey is quite talented with nail design, so in the spirit of pursuing her passions, we gave her an array of nail polishes and design appliqu├ęs to create picturesque nails.

We are so proud of Kailey and what an exceptional role model she is for our children. She works hard at school, has lots of friends, takes care of herself by making good decisions for her life.

We love you, Kailey!
